De Red Boyz - Mo' Fire Blazin'

De Red Boyz - Mo' Fire Blazin'Definitely one of the Albums to pick up in preparation for the 'Greatest Show on Earth' Trinidad Carnival 2009... or should I say 2000 & WINE...

Since their scorching debut as producers in 2006, De Red Boyz - 36-year old Barbadian drummer, Mikey Hulsmeier and Trinidadian transplant, 30-year old guitarist Scott Galt – have reset the Groovy Soca fusion sound, making it crisp, danceable, and spicier.

To date the duo has produced two consecutive Soca albums, both spiked with big names from the local & regional Soca arena. The first album, De Red Boyz Blazin' Red Soca Project, was the birth place for Trinidad and Tobago's 2007 Carnival's International Groovy Soca Monarch winning tune 'Nah Goin' Home' by Barbadian reggae star Biggie Irie. Making the album a sure fire starter, Shontelle, famed author of Alison Hinds mega tune 'Roll It', released her own recording 'Hot Like Fyah'; Peter Ram launched the anthem 'Woman By My Side'', and 2003 People's Monarch, Statement, released 'I'll Be Home'.

De Red Boyz movement is by far a collaboration of two seasoned professionals striking a fresh cord and sprucing up a traditional format. Between the two, the Galt/Hulsmeier team has been making music since childhood. From an early age Scott was plucking around. His dad started him out on a quatro – a four-stringed instrument with Venezuelan origins. Here in Barbados his folks' restaurant Angie's became a place to hangout and listen in on the hotel bands that would play at the establishment during his pre-pubescent years. At five years old a second hand drum set bought by his dad marked Mikey's musical beginning. From then on the drumming hasn't stopped.

This year the Galt/Hulsmeier team is at it again; the list of artistes vying for a chance at recording on a Red Boyz track is long, brought on by the obvious success of the past two albums. Mikey - charming and diplomatic; Scott – dry humored and enduring, aren't into music making as an accessory to chasing skirts, fame, stardom nor the familiar trappings that surface dwellers use to identify success. They're simply devoted to making music sound good. The other stuff they leave for the people out front.

The album features Seasoned veterans with some serious new talent and some crooners. Maxi Priest teams up with Shurwayne Winchester and the Uncle Sam makes two appearances. You have to cop this album... I did!

Alison Hinds - Soca Queen

Caribbean's Queen of Soca Alison Hinds set to release highly anticipated debut solo album. (Album in Stores in CANADA)

Hailing from the tropical island of Barbados, and crowned the undisputed "Queen of Soca" by fans worldwide, the British born Alison Hinds is set to introduce the rest of the world to the power and passion of Soca (Southern Caribbean) music, which is rapidly gaining popularity among music lovers around the globe. Since its dominant reign at the top of charts throughout the Caribbean, to New York City's prominent HOT 97 airwaves, to the BBC Radio in England, to Canada's premier music channel Much Music, Alison Hinds’ first single and video Roll It Gal has been gaining major global momentum, setting the stage for the highly anticipated U.S. release of her solo debut album, aptly titled Soca Queen (1720 Entertainment/Black Coral) on Tuesday November 6.

Soca Queen is an upbeat collection of original songs, which captures Alison Hinds’ passionate sensual vocals, infectious driving rhythms and spirited lyrics. Armed with the stronghold support of her worldwide Caribbean fan base, the superstar touch of executive producer Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Nas, Fugees), and fortified by the highly regarded Caribbean production team comprised of Shel$hok (Wyclef Jean, Machel Montano, Maximus Dan), Chris Allman (Rupee, David Kirton), and Nicholas Brancker (Shabba Ranks, Simply Red, Rob Flack), the Soca Queen is prepared to broaden her domain.

On releasing her first solo album, the Queen of Soca proudly proclaims, "Soca is what I'm known for, so I want the music to represent who I am. It's infectious and happy, but can still say something and touch lives." Upon its initial release throughout the Caribbean, Alison Hinds’ first single Roll It Gal shot to the top of the charts in Barbados, Trinidad and throughout the Caribbean almost instantly, where it has become a summer anthem. The video for Roll It Gal was ranked No. 1 for ten weeks on MTV's TEMPO (MTV network's channel devoted to Caribbean Music, viewed in over 20 Caribbean countries).

Currently, the Roll It Gal video has been added to MTV Jams, VH-1 Soul and is among the most viewed videos on MySpace.Com. The smash anthem Roll It Gal is also available for download on iTunes! worldwide, AOL, Yahoo! and all premium online download destinations. Additionally, Roll It Gal ringtones are available on every major wireless carrier throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Richie Spice - Spice In Your Life

Richie Spice delivers on his latest record, three years after the release of “Spice In Your Life,” the man who gave us anthems like “Earth A Run Red,” “Marijuana” and “Grooving My Girl,” adds to his creative resume the disc “In The Streets To Africa.” Spice has easily risen to the top of his game, thanks to a handful of hits, and his latest disc captures some of the most recent chart-toppers thrown in with some new delicacies.

Of course, “Brown Skin” is included, so too is the Billboard-charting single “Youths Are So Cold,” the New York Reggae chart hit “Open The Door,” and his almost ten-year-old recording “Grooving My Girl” (which was re-released and became a hit all over again two years ago). The material on the 5th Element/VP 15-track disc is enough to expand on Richie's fan base, and music lovers young and old should find the tracks appealing. “Digital Ways,” featuring the late Joseph Hill of Culture, “Sunny Day,” and “Baby Face” featuring Richie's brothers Spanner Banner and Pliers deserve a fair shake. An impressive lineup of musicians injected their talents into this album.

But the bonus thrill is the DVD which has been included. There are acoustic performances of Richie in the street in front of his 5th Element offices. The camera also accompanied Richie to various places around the country and this gives fans a close-up look at the man whose now familiar vocals have made him one of the most sought-after in modern-day reggae.

RudeBwoy Anthems

Ill Inspecta has an album due for release Dec 02 2006 in Japan from P-Vine Records, this comes soon after the success of the RudeBwoy Anthem EP from Germaican Records. 16 tracks featuring 11 completely new tunes.

I first heard Ill Inspecta on a Ward 21 tune, Rude Boy Patrol, that was produced by Pionear from Germaican Records. According to Illi he was never in the studio with Ward but was asked to complete the song. So he finished something to get his start... funny eh! Then came other singles and a combination with Bobby Buster on Germaican riddims.

Early 2006 saw me importing the Burning and Tragedy riddims (Bassrunner) which both had Illi featuring and this is what really got me tuned into this artist. These tunes really showed the talent that was there. Thanks to Black Chariot (Guage) for recognizing this and buying them from me. Then came the RudeBwoy Anthem. My word! This made me remember what turned me onto dancehall music. He followed this up with 2 of my favourite Illi tunes, Lay Dem 2 Rest (Thug Funk / Bassrunner) and Too Bold (Judgement Time / Special Delivery).

As I was developing this bandwagonist concept, he then comes with this album that completely blows me away. I am very pleased to see that Illi has an album under his belt in such a seemingly short time. I know that I have tried to expose him to my republic, but this place has too many other bandwagonist for you to count. Only when Illi makes it big in the US will they recognize the talent; they have yet to bring Gentleman who only has like 3 albums and performances at Sting 2003 and Reggae Sumfest 2006.

For who can get the album, imported or local, buy it!.
ME NAH SUPPORT THE DOWNLOADERS!
It features some of the singles that got Illi his start and some wicked combinations with Lexie Lee and Million Stylez, a Jr. Blender remix, riddims like the Money Bag, Wipe Out, Cure, Messer Banzani, Judgement Time, Thug Funk and Typhoon.

...in the words of Ill Inspecta... inspec' it
